Our web design
process: four steps,
and what you receive
at each one

One team, four steps. You review the plan and the design, and nothing goes live until you say so.

How a project runs, and what you receive at each step

01 Understand.

We talk through your business and goals, then agree the work. We ask who buys from you, how they choose and what the website must achieve, then write that down. You receive: a written scope and a tailored quote. Nothing is committed until you agree.

02 Plan.

We decide what each page must say and show, so every page has one job. You review the plan before design starts. You receive: a page plan.

03 Design and build

You see the design first, with two rounds of changes included before we build. We design the phone layout separately, not just scale the desktop one down. You send the final facts and images. Further changes are scoped separately. You receive: the design, then the built website.

04 Launch and hand over

We run the agreed launch checks and test that your enquiry form delivers, then launch with your go-ahead. You receive: the finished website and handover documentation.

Discuss your project

It starts with a short form about your business.

What is agreed in writing before any work starts

You know what you are paying for, what you own and what happens after launch, before you commit.

Your quote. Built from the pages, content, features and launch work your project needs. You can start small and add to the website later. What affects the cost of a website

Your scope, in writing. You agree it first. Work starts only after that.

Two rounds of design changes. Any further round is agreed with you, in writing, before the work starts.

Care after launch, only if you want it. Updates, backups, security and renewals are not included unless we agree them. If you want us to handle them, we write down what is covered and who does each job.

We do not promise rankings, traffic or sales.

What we check before your website goes live

You give the go-ahead for launch. Before you do, we check against the accessibility standard (WCAG 2.2 AA) and Google's page-speed measures (Core Web Vitals):

  • Keyboard use and readable text. We test both before launch.

  • Phone layouts and links. We test key tasks on a real phone, and check that links go where they should.

  • Forms tested to receipt. Your enquiry arrives, not just a thank-you message.

  • Search basics. Page titles, descriptions, canonical addresses and the sitemap are in place.

  • Old addresses. When a site moves, every old page gets a decision, and redirects point to matching pages, not the homepage. We check them before launch.

  • Tracking. The agreed events are tested, so we count enquiries, not button clicks.

You receive everything, and you own all of it

Your domain, your accounts, every file and every login are yours. At launch you receive the finished website, Content Management System (CMS) access and documentation that explains the content, important settings and anything that depends on another company.

  • Domain. Registered in your name.
  • Accounts. Hosting and Shopify accounts are yours. We work in them as collaborators.
  • Your CMS. You change your own text and images.
  • Third-party tools. Anything run by another company keeps that company's terms, and we list each one.
  • Leaving. You can leave at any time and take everything with you.
  • Want us to stay on after launch? We agree ongoing care with you separately.

Questions about how we work

What happens first?

You fill in a short form about your business. We reply with next steps, and the first step is agreeing the work and your written scope and quote.

When do I commit?

Only after you agree the written scope and quote. Nothing is committed before that.

How many design changes are included?

Two rounds of changes are included before we build. Further changes are scoped separately and agreed with you before the work starts.

Does anything go live without my approval?

No. We run the agreed launch checks, and the website launches with your go-ahead.

Can I edit my own content afterwards?

Yes, through a Content Management System (CMS). You change your own text and images.

Who owns the website and the accounts?

You do: the domain, the hosting and Shopify accounts, the files and the logins. Anything run by another company keeps that company's terms, and we list each one.

Is care after launch included?

Not unless we agree it. Updates, backups, security and renewals are scoped separately, and we write down who does each job.
